Sherirella's Reading Room
Sad but True
by: unknown
Its Sad but True
Right... let me keep this simple. And remember this is all factual information.
1- Bots and hacking spoil roleplaying for many people. Sometimes someone
comes up with something good. And someone else comes along and messes
with it just because of some petty reason. Do you think if you had that kind
of power that you would really be any better?
2- The Zones came around near the end of last year and were used by
the newer players so that they would not have any risk of ending up in a
situation they couldnt handle.
3- The majority of those who run "zone" rooms are themselves infact very new
to either or both, roleplaying and MSN. Most of them dont know that it
was any different.
4- The majority of those who run "bordello" chatrooms are also rather
new to roleplaying and know nothing of character and story orientated rp.
5- Roleplaying is a game that has been kept alive and fresh by the youth.
Those who would like to think that they are way above the youth who
have been roleplaying since they could read are extremely mistaken.
6- The cause of much moding comes from middle aged people.
7- There is not one case in which adding real factors into roleplaying has
ever been cause of either much pleasure nor great storylines. Though some
have made good real life relationships through roleplaying.
8- Girl power and sister power has been a bad thing for roleplaying as it has
been in real life... it makes many things seem tacky and those who are part of
such a "click" are often under the impression that they hold much power and
respect in the hearts of all the "great" realm leaders.
9- Those who use "zones" these days are often overcome with fits of talking
about real things as if they are in a normal chat.
10- The majority of "fantasy" chats no longer resemble the archetypical
fantasy world.
11- True legends and tales of destiny are no longer a part of roleplaying on
MSN for the fact that people no longer spend hours talking with their most
dire enemies, working out storylines, battles and other such things for the
future. Instead most of them cannot place real events apart from
roleplaying events.
12- Evil doesnt exist anymore. You may hear someone call themselves evil
but ask yourself why that hell demon from the bottom of the great void is
blushing as an "escort" from one of the bordello chats tries to flirt with him.
13- In most realms evil and good characters are accepted fully. As long as
they all act "good".
14- You will be kicked from most rooms these days on both enertainment
and intrests for just acting evil.
15- People have no sense of economy. The truth is that how the realms
economy stands, simple food should cost millions of gold pieces. Those
who are not extremely wealthy in normal standards are nothing in the
MSN realms standards.
16- Almost everyone seems to have supper human strength. Explain to me
how you can carry several thousand gold pieces around. It would be a
suggestion for you to save up, go to a museum and purchase a single gold
piece just to find out how heavy they really are.
17- There is no difference between races. When people play their characters
they play humans but with slight differences. They dont play their
characters race fully.
18- Death is no longer an unwilling thing. Someone actually kills you,
*poof* you dont live anymore and leave the chat... do you accept that?
19- Nobody wants to really work together with others. Those few who
do work together are like a pack... they all seem very lacking to those
who look in from the outside but for those inside they all seem very great.
20- People place too much trust in "friends". Ass kissing is an easy task
though loyalty, wisdom and talent are hard to come by virtues. Guess who
gets status in communities and chats first. (The ass kisser of course)
21- Anime roleplaying is in some cases surpassing the common fantasy
roleplaying. Its more intense, driven and character motivating.
22- Apart from things like relationships and family, all new updates
to characters happen though were never roleplayed.
23- People see flashy titles and gold pretty things beside their names
and they start to believe that this makes them powerful and
important to others.
24- Nobody has a billowing cape anymore, aswell as other details.
25- The fact that most people have to spend half a life time to learn
the magical arts hasnt hit MSN yet.
26- Also the fact that it takes allot of time and practice to learn anything
hasnt struck many people on msn yet as I have seen a 16 year old elf wield
magic, use a sword, dance with perfection, write books, talk to animals,
heal others with grave wounds, and state that most of their lives has been
taken up with traveling.
27- Most characters are motivated by one thing. Sex, most of what they
do is only to somehow find a partner for their characters to have
a tumble with.
28- True leaders are few. Running a realm is not the same as keeping a realm.
Having something a "punter" wants is one thing but leading a tribe of active
members into a well thought out war is yet another thing.
29- Everyone wants to be "The One" the guy or gal who is going to change
the fates of many forever. The fact that the title has "one" in it doesnt seem
to get through to people as MSN is full of Wannabes who just end up
going into bordellos and sharing jokes for months on end as well as
sharing beds.
30- Modesty is too hard to find. You can quicker find someone who wants
to sugar coat their pathetic attempts at anything and make it out to be a
master piece than someone who knows deep down they could have
done much better.
31- People dont know what the difference between evil and good is.
They think someone who is evil is just someone who kills people and
eats babies though its more a state of mind... a dark state of mind. And good in
turn is not someone who serves well, its someone who has hope for the future
and such things.
32- People run many different characters because they cant find what theyre
looking for with one. Did it ever strike anyone that those who play
many characters have allot of simple and borring characters whilst someone
who works hard on a single character in a single realm has a much
better character?
33- Most of the people out there cant run realms very well. Has anyone
ever bothered to think about having a roleplaying group and not even
calling it a realm? I mean ... there is a possibility of wild country
isnt there?
34- Adventurers are no more, where would they adventure to? another bar
or borring keep prehaps? People are forgeting the worth that is in having
dungeons and such things.
35- Everyone has an opinion. Only the more intelligent have a chance of
fleshing out their ideas into great works. Yet people would rather help those
who lack talent to build something that the realms have too much of
anyway. And nobody wants to help the person who has a real good idea to
flesh it out and have something new in the realms for once.
36- People see something great these days and they want to be a part of it.
Do you really think that anyone with any true love of fantasy stories is going to
want to play in some rip off realm created by a half-wit after watching the
"Lord of the Rings" film.
37- When you think about how reality works you remember that most people
in life are cannon fodder. The realms in MSN lack their cannon fodder
instead those who should be such people crown themselves to be great
and make others ashamed to even like the fantasy genre. Just know
what you can actually play before you even try.
38- Its a fact that when someone stupid marries someone smart that they will
both start to bicker about which is better. Roleplaying circles are the same,
just watch out who you let into your fantasy.
39- Role playing revolutions come seldom which is a shame in a way that
they come at all. Something good comes out of it at first, but as more
jump onto the bandwagon those who hold true love for the game find
themselves in a world populated by too many who lack imagination
and dedication.
40- Roleplaying is a game. Though for it to work those who play must
be dedicated and know how it works. Most people don't really care,
they just come and go whilst leaving those who stay to deal with the mess.
These are just a few of the pointers where Roleplaying (mainly on msn)
is truely lacking... aswell as some facts as to why.
